Avoiding the Common Mistakes of New Internet Marketers

June 4th, 2010 by Ross, No Comments »

When you are beginning online, it is important to understand the reality behind the myths so you can position yourself for success. There is a lot of information on the web that contains good methods but it is clothed in false perceptions and does not offer value to the world. To truly become a leader, you must think outside the box and refrain from getting stuck in the misconceptions. Here are a few of them:

 How much does it cost?

If you are looking for a new business opportunity or system to implement, don't get jammed with prices. Look for value first. I find it remarkable that people will spend money on college education, certificates, educational courses, computers and anything else that will enrich their lives, but they don't want to spend any money to develop an incredible internet business. It's almost like the "paralysis by analysis" type thinking. They stay stuck in the preparation phase and never enter the action phase.

How much time will it take me to succeed?

If you are asking this question, internet marketing may not be the right thing for you. I teach that the key to getting anywhere is contingent on your determination, hard work and ability. So how much time will it take you to succeed? It will take you as long as it takes you to act on the methods and accomplish your goals. Contrary to what you see in the latest best selling ebooks, there are no shortcuts to creating wealth online. Everyone takes the same steps to get there and the longer you are busy searching for shortcuts, the more time you are putting off the inevitable, which is working to succeed.

Build your Campaign for People, not Google

Here is another snag I see new marketers fall into. They are so intent on gaining rankings in the search engines or getting more traffic to their sites they forget the people they are targeting. They use all of their time on search engine optimization methods and forget about the ACTUAL people who are reading their content. The search engine may help you gain traffic but they won't help you sell a product. Without people Google wouldn't exist and neither would your business. Focus on the user first and see what a difference it makes in your profits.

Creativity is Better than Imitation when you are Becoming an Industry Leader

June 4th, 2010 by Ross, No Comments »

The internet is full of copycats and people who are trying to approach leadership status by mimicking the steps of those who are successful. Yes, you can utilize the methods of leaders but you must display them in your own unique way. The more you can stand out from the crowd, the greater will be your success. Do you think if I developed another "Coke" can and filled it with soda, it would be successful? Of course not. That's because people will gravitate towards the brand that has been around longer and the one in which they feel more comfortable. It is the same with the internet. Leaders in the internet marketing industry draw loyal followers to their brand. If you create a slightly different version of their brand, it will never grow.

Don't be afraid to create a distinct brand around who you are and your ideals in life. If you stay true to yourself, it will automatically be unique because you are unique to the world. Sometimes we are afraid of failing when we start out so we copy the strategies we already deem successful. I give people applicable systems in my “Accelerated Internet Success System” to help them succeed in their internet businesses. It's OK to implement these proven methods and I applaud anyone who will invest the time to do so, but it's not OK to mimic a brand. Your personality, communication and style make up your brand message, whether you are comical, reserved or charitable. You will become a leader in this industry much faster if you recognize and develop your unique message.

If you feel stuck figuring out what you bring to the table, consider answering these questions:

What do you feel you have to offer the world?
What do you like about yourself?
What are your strengths?
What type of personality do you have?
In one word how would other people describe you?

Gather all of the words from these answers and join them into one cohesive message. When you are designing your website, social media profiles or writing your "About me" page and profiles, remember these traits and join them to your business. Over time, it will become your brand and this is how people will identify you. It will slowly develop you as a leader because it will not look like anyone else, but will be the best representation of who you are, and nobody can be a better you than you!
